The Bear Season 3 on Disney+ is taking us out of the frying pan and into the fire

One of the best shows of the decade is back in a big way...

Once in a while, a new show comes along and completely blows the audience away. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does, it deserves to be shouted about from the rooftops. That is very much the case with FX’s The Bear, which has just launched its third season exclusively on Disney+.

Whether you're a newbie to the world of The Bear or have already binged the first two seasons and want a refresher before diving back into its frenetic world, here is everything you need to know...

A quick (spoiler-free!) recap

If you're brand new to The Bear, we promise not to get too deep into spoiler territory here. However, we will explain just enough to whet your appetite to want to come back for more.

Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) inherits a run-down sandwich shop in Chicago, which somewhat forces him to abandon the world of high-end, Michelin-starred restaurants that he has been used to.

While building and repairing his relationships with the restaurant's de facto manager Richie (Ebon Moss-Bacharach), as well as his new sous-chef Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), Carmy attempts to turn around the fortunes of the sandwich shop, with the goal of making it a must-visit restaurant.

And we won't say too much more about it right now, but let us just say that things aren't plain sailing on the road to personal and professional improvement...

The cast has absolutely blown up

Since the first episodes of The Bear debuted in 2022, the central trio of the show have seen their stardom on the constant ascent.

Jeremy Allen White has won the Emmy, the Golden Globe, the Critic's Choice, and the Screen Actor's Guild awards for his role as Carmy across the first two seasons. And let us not forget he also single-handedly broke the internet earlier this year thanks to his provocative underwear campaign!

Ebon Moss-Bacharach has also been sent into the fame stratosphere, winning in the Supporting Actor categories at the Critic's Choice and Emmy Awards, and sharing Best Ensemble with the cast at the SAG Awards. And his future is only going to get even brighter, having been recently cast as Ben Grimm (aka The Thing) in what could be 2025's biggest movie, The Fantastic Four.

And last but by no means least, we've got Ayo Edebiri, aka The New Queen Of Ireland. Ever since she declared that she played the role of Jenny The Donkey in The Banshees of Inisherin, Edebiri has won our collective hearts in every interview and red-carpet appearance we've seen her participate in. Also, a big-time award winner - The Bear garnered her Best Actress awards from the Emmys, the Golden Globes, and the Critic's Choice Awards - we'll also be able to enjoy her endless talents on the big screen this summer as she portrays Envy in Inside Out 2.

What to expect from Season 3...

Again, not to get too far into spoiler territory here, but from the footage we've seen of the third season so far, it does look like Carmy has achieved his dream of finally, successfully opening The Bear...

It is all hands on deck as the lessons learned from the last two seasons of nail-biting drama are really put to the test in the new episodes, with the same level of stomach-churning tension and lightning-fast wit on display.

Will Carmy be able to actually enjoy being an amazing chef? Can Richie utilise the skills he learned during his time in the fine dining restaurant? Is the emotional turmoil of this particular kitchen the best place for Sydney to grow?

Those cameos...

If you've already watched the first two seasons of The Bear, then you will know exactly what we mean when we say the three following words: The. Christmas. Episode.

In the episode titled "Fishes", we're treated to a more personal glimpse into the lives of Carmy and Richie, spending time with their family at Christmas, and along the way, there is an absolute cavalcade of huge Hollywood cameos playing their relatives, including Jamie Lee Curtis, Bob Odenkirk, Sarah Paulson, John Mulaney, Jon Berenthal and Gillian Jacobs.

That was all just from one episode, but The Bear has been incredible at keeping viewers guessing which other major stars might make an attention-grabbing and immediately memorable appearance.

Molly Ringwald, Will Poulter, and Oscar-winner Olivia Colman have all shared the screen as unforgettable characters alongside the cast of The Bear already, so we're already absolutely psyched to see who might else be joining them in the new episodes.

And let us end with a little love letter to the food on the show...

Has there ever been a show to make you hungry, and actively drool, while watching as much as The Bear does?

From those amazing sandwiches in the first episode, right through to the "minty Snickers bar" they learn to make in Copenhagen, it features absolute food goals in each and every episode...

What culinary delights will they treat us to in the new episodes? We are beyond excited to find out...
