Five must-watch new shows and movies for the adults
on Disney+ this Summer

From sci-fi epics to addictive mysteries,
there is so much great new stuff to enjoy on Disney+ right now.

Disney+ is fantastically regarded as being filled to the brim with amazing family-friendly content, thanks to what the streaming platform can show under the Disney, Pixar, National Geographic, and Marvel banners.

However, Disney+ is also a great platform for new shows and movies that are geared more towards adults who want to watch something great at home.

This summer sees an impressive host of new and returning shows and movies to choose from, with the following five just the tip of the iceberg for what viewers can expect to enjoy!

Only Murders In The Building

Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez headline this ridiculously entertaining look into how the only thing the world loves more than a true crime… is a true crime podcast! When a series of murders take place in their high-end New York apartment building, this trio puts together a podcast, trying to catch the killer and maybe launch a successful show in the process.

The new season takes the action to LA when a big Hollywood producer announces they want to buy the rights to the podcast and turn it into a movie.

And, wouldn’t you know it, there is another murder to solve. Following in the star-filled footsteps of previous seasons, the new episodes will feature guest appearances from Meryl Streep, Molly Shannon, Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, Zach Galifianakis, Kumail Nanjiani, and Melissa McCarthy!

Seasons 1 to 3 are available to watch exclusively on Disney+ right now, with the fourth season set to arrive on Tuesday 27th August.

The Bear

One of the most-talked-about shows of the last few years is back in a big way for the critically acclaimed third season. You can check out our big breakdown of the new episodes right here, but for now, all we’ll see is that Carmy, Sydney, and Richie are facing a new set of problems while trying to make their restaurant as great as it can possibly be.

Another magnificent collection of superstars make guest appearances, the performances across the board are uniformaly excellent, and we get further under the skin of these beloved characters.

All episodes of The Bear Season 3, as well as all of the first two seasons, are available to stream exclusively on Disney+ right now.

The Acolyte

Taking place around 100 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode One – The Phantom Menace, so well before the Skywalker Saga, this new series drops us into the middle of a galaxy-wide mystery.

Jedi Master Sol (played by Squid Game star Lee Jung-jae) takes it upon himself to investigate a series of deadly attacks, and along the way he is reunited with his former protégé, Osha (Amandla Stenberg). Together they begin to piece together a sinister plot that is going to take them both down some very dark paths, most of which lead back to their own shared history…

All eight episodes of The Acolyte are available to watch exclusively on Disney+ right now.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

The fantastic trilogy – Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, War for the Planet of the Apes – are all available to watch on Disney+ right now. The new entry in this massively impressive series of sci-fi action movies takes place around 300 years after the events of War, with the descendants still dealing with the ramifications of that battle between ape and human.

Set during a time of relative peace, the ape Noa (performed by Owen Teague) suddenly finds himself on the run from Proximus Caesar (Kevin Durand), a ruthless leader who has twisted the teachings of apekind’s previous ruler to suit his own nefarious goals.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is available to stream on Disney+ right now.

The Kardashians

Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, Kendall, Kylie, and, of course, Kris… they’re all back for a new season of family drama! ! A lot has happened since the previous season ended in November last year, from the arrival of Kourtney’s new baby boy Rocky, to Kim taking her professional life in a new trajectory by kicking off her career in acting.

If you’re a lover of the show, then you already know what to expect; an extravagant rollercoaster featuring the emotional ups and downs of some of the planet’s most famous people.
